Food Bloggers Meet 2015 by Indori Zayka @Vidorra

“INDORI ZAYKA” a venture by Mr. Rakesh Dawani was established in 2013 to promote Indori food, restaurants, cafes and lounges etc. We all are pretty familiar with the know how’s of making your venture successful, the first need being Social Marketing and that is how he began his idea and took it to the next level. Eventually it grew up to be 2 years for Indori Zayka being followed by almost 50,000+ people all over India on Instagram and facebook.

Then he came out with an idea called FOODWALK. A walk was led by people that covers 9-10 restaurants all over Indore that includes your food from Breakfast to supper. By this people got to know about the taste and variations in food. Again it was time he came out with an interesting idea called “FOOD BLOGGERS MEET” and this is how my journey started :).

He selected 15 bloggers across Indore who are enthusiastic about food. The 15 bloggers are of different categories, some being food enthusiasts, some writing about cafes and restaurants while some about lifestyle and food. The meet was held at VIDORRA,a highly fabled rooftop restaurant that has different varieties of food along with the best chefs and staff and a mesmerizing ambiance. How can we forget the view of developing Indore? We all gathered there and tasted 27 special dishes that were not being served by vidorra and that included cuisines of 4 countries i.e Thai, Mediterranean, Chinese and Lebanese. We were told to taste the food and rate it on a score 1-10 with the following review of the particular dish.

We ate salads, 9 different dips, soups, and vegand non-veg starters with main course serving different breads, rice and desserts. All the cuisines were explained by “Chef Lucky”, who is a proud owner of PARATHA ON WHEELS.

Talking about my experience of tasting the food - We started with tasting the 9 Dips with breadsticks including pesto, mustard, honey chili, tobasco , hummus, and so on.

1. Chicken Coriander Thick Soup, was minced chicken & coriander white thick soup with wine flavor. Before drinking a soup, just smell it feel the aroma. This actually tasted so well, the taste of coriander with chicken was perfect.

2. Cottage Cheese & Pineapple Salad (chilled), this is a very simple salad to make. It had cottage cheese with pineapple cubes in creamy dressing. A very cold salad though very tasty and smooth.

3. Chicken Chinese Salad, the best chicken salad I ever tasted. It was made with shredded chicken & vegetables with the flavors of red chili and vinegar.

4. Crispy Lettuce Wrap, a starter new to me, was well presented and we were actually said to eat this with our hand without any forks and knife. We wrapped that lettuce and then told to take a bite, it was mesmerizing and it tasted so well. This had tossed water chestnut, corn & mushroom served on bed of fried vermicelli and fresh iceberg lettuce: D “highly recommended dish in veg “

5. Cheese Onion Chili Seek Kebab, a very smooth and cheesy dish. As soon as you eat this, it melts in your mouth and it has a very calm taste that everybody will be liking it. This had a charcoal taste that made it tastier.

6. Hara PyaazKa Paneer Tikka, another one from tandoor and really tasted like a tikka. The marinated green chili got perfectly mixedwith paneer and it also got melted in the mouth.

7. Mutton KaPanja, by eating this dish my expectations from vidorra got so high that I can’t even explain. The best mutton dish I ever had, very soft and the mutton was well marinated with the Indian spices. It was a gravy starter that tasted very good. “highly recommended dish in non-veg “

8. Steam Egg Foi, this one was made with steamed egg with sambal sauce, the sauce was sweet that made the dish very different. This dish was so well presented and all egg lovers will definitely love this dish.

9. Bhuna Paneer-E-Kozambo, a kerela cuisine. This was the starting of the main course which was served with breads of your own choice “garlic cheese nan “will be best suited with and still according to your own choice. A very different taste from regular paneer dishes.

10. How can we miss the stunning mocktails that totally added up to the complete menu and we have 4-5 varieties of it. They were creamy pie, Cranberry and Caribbean mock tail, and purple rain.

11. Kaeng-Kiew-WahuPhak(ThaiCuisine), which was served with plain white rice and a curry that was made out of stirred vegetables in green curry paste with coconut milk, young aubergine and thai herbs. A very different dish from your regular food that tasted so good and was not spicy at all.

12. Mutton BhuttiKaNeelgiri, a very differenttype of mutton dish that is not usually seen in any normal restaurants. It is made of mutton curry cut in mustard seed and spinach spices with Indian gravy, a green color mutton is a unique thing to see and taste.

13. Coconut Pancake, very well made pancakes. They were soft and were so tasty with equal amount of sugar. At the end this made my day, it was like cherry on the cake.

A get together is incomplete without photos and all the fun. The event was a huge success with all the creative and foodoholic minds of Indore. Last but not the least, we always end our lunch or dinner with a pan, so in place of that we had PAN SHOTS which made the meet wonderful.

Part of the secret of a success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside. – Mark Twain
